Enter His Rest: 30-Day Guided Scripture Meditation Devotional

Here’s what readers are saying:

Jeanne-Claire from Florida says:

I have found this devotion so very helpful. I love doing it every morning. I read it alongside my Bible so I can see the full chapter that the verse is from. It really helps me to understand God’s Word. Your style of guiding the reader through each day is exceptional and a wonderful help for busy people. My husband and I truly appreciate your ministry. Keep up your fantastic work.

Esther from Texas says:

“Enter His Rest” presents a much-needed invitation into God’s presence in the midst of a busy and hectic world. Through her carefully crafted introductory sections, Sarah explains the concepts of Christian meditation and mindfulness, making them accessible to both beginners and experienced practitioners. In the daily guided meditation prompts, she puts the focus on Scripture and encourages her readers to see familiar verses in new ways. She utilizes a variety of exercises and methods, keeping things fresh and interesting. This book is definitely a tool that I can see myself coming back to again when I need a reset in experiencing God’s rest!

Bob from Pennsylvania says:

You’ve heard it said before that good things come in small packages. Well apparently, the best things come in 30-day devotional sized packages. “Enter His Rest” by Sarah Grace Young has the power to transform your life. This Bible-centered guide to mindfulness meditation is packed with heart, soul, truth, and rest which will leave you feeling closer to God and more enriched by His Word than ever before.

There is such a wealth of knowledge contained in this little book. The introduction section at the beginning is a wonderful resource which will help the reader gain a better understanding of why meditation is helpful, the “how to” on the actual practice of meditation, and the importance of not making the process too rigid, but being open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance throughout your meditation time. Sarah takes the reader on an in-depth look at the different styles of meditation too, helping them to get an idea of which style or styles may fit them best, and the value that can be obtained from incorporating a variety of meditation techniques into your daily practice.

The daily devotionals are, just, wow. There is an indescribable depth to the way that Sarah guides the reader through each day’s meditation, encouraging the reader to use their God-given imagination to enhance what it would be like to experience the Word of God, rather than just read about it. Sarah references supplementary Bible passages to help shed more light onto that day’s truth, helping to give it more context and applicability. She also leaves the reader with thought provoking questions for personal reflection so that the reader has an opportunity to relate the Scripture to what they may be going through in their own circumstances. Each day’s devotional is a slightly different format, ensuring that monotony and predictability never seep into the reader’s experience. Sarah’s emphasis on “present-moment awareness” and an attitude of “self-compassion” and “non-judgment” help the reader to connect with the Living God in the only place we can, right here, and right now, without the interference of past regrets or future worries. Sarah takes the “work” out of trying to obtain the peace and rest we are so desperate for, reminding the reader that “rest” is already here, because God is already here, we just need to “be with Him” and receive His gift of rest.

If you’ve ever felt unable to scratch deeper than a surface level depth in your relationship with God, this book is for you. If you already have a wonderful and enriching relationship with God, this book is for you. If you’ve ever felt so weighed down with worry and anxiety, that you can’t seem to “feel” God’s presence in your life, this book is for you. If you want the seed of God’s word to take deep and lasting root in your heart, and not have it swallowed up and crowded out by the cares and concerns of daily life, this book is for you. Buy this book, you will not regret it. And while you’re at it, buy it for all the people you care about in your life as well. It’s that good, and it has the power to change your relationship with God forever.

Linda from Massachusetts says:

Despite being retired, I still don’t want to sit and meditate. I am prone to review my day at the end and to ask myself: “What tasks did I successfully accomplish today?” rather than “How did I fellowship with Jesus today?” or “Did I experience God’s presence today?” Why do I resist it? Sarah makes coming into God’s presence very accessible.

Because everything about me is anti-meditation, I appreciate Sarah’s step-by-step guidance, as well as her practical tips and suggestions (such as trying to put your phone in another room so you’re not distracted or tempted to check it during this brief quiet period)!

I appreciate that Sarah draws from “traditional meditation methods in church history” as well as Christian mindfulness techniques.

I love that the devotional offers the space and opportunity to write down thoughts, but doesn’t compel people to do it, since it could be seen by readers as “homework,” and the purpose of rest could be thwarted. I also love the non-judgmental feel of the writing; the love of Christ shines through.

I like how Sarah simplifies the message. For example she says “the simplest way to meditate as a Christian is to read Scripture, ponder it in in our minds, and speak with God about it.”

I love the statement in the introduction that “It’s important to note that this idea of God’s presence doesn’t mean that meditation must be an overly spiritual or mystical experience. Rather, it’s about accepting the simple truth that God is with us.”

I love the simplicity and straight-forward nature of the writing; despite feeling rich, it feels accessible.

I love that it’s a 30-day commitment. That is within reach for many of us.

I appreciate this helpful guidance: “Our minds can only truly pay attention to one thing at a time, and we have the capacity to choose what we focus on.” This is such an important truth; at times I can feel that my mind is running away and that I am powerless to guide and redirect it. Sarah’s words here are encouraging and a good challenge.

In many ways, this is a countercultural message for mainstream evangelical Christians. Sarah encourages us to be non-judgmentally aware of our present moment experiences, what we are thinking or feeling. She points out that God knows all our thoughts and deeds and still responds with his love and grace. When our faith is in Christ, God has a non-judging attitude towards us since Christ took the penalty for us on the cross. How different this message is from many sermons, devotionals, and articles seen in the mainstream church.

Sarah tutors you through the process of learning and applying elements of six different meditation approaches.

Sarah invites you into an experience of the presence of Christ rather than a passive experience of reading a prepared devotional.
